Staying organized in a digital world is critical to success, and first year college students often find themselves ambushed by unseen due dates and lost in a sea of emails.  Creating a systematic way to organize course materials, record due dates, and check off tasks helps students stay on track.  The Gear Up workshop in the first week of school will show students how to organize their laptop and Catmail (UA email) with course folders & how to use Google apps to build a productive workspace.

Learning differences that may benefit from digital organization:

  • ADHD
  • Processing Challenges
  • Memory Deficits
  • Dyslexia
Recommendations:
  • Pulse for D2L (must be enrolled at the U of A first)
  • MyHomework
  • Integrated solutions involving Google Apps:  Catmail (UA Gmail account), G-Cal, Tasks, Keep, & Taskboards (Chrome extension)

Just starting at the U of A?  Trying to decide on a laptop?  Wondering what the best set up is for productivity?
